For many at CeramicSpeed, cycling is not just a leisure activity, but also a source of inspiration and balance.
“In my free time, I cycle quite a lot. Some might even say I cycle a bit too much, but for me, it’s a great way to either completely relax or really blow off steam,” says Jacob Csizmadia, CEO of CeramicSpeed.
He adds: “There’s a strong parallel between cycling and work – sometimes we work alone and dive deep into a task, and other times we move at high speed together with others. It’s all about balance, and that’s something CeramicSpeed carries from cycling into working life.”
“Our ambition is to deliver a unique product that never fails – whether it’s ball bearings for large wind turbine generators or for professional cyclists,” says Jacob.
CeramicSpeed has achieved impressive results, including having cyclists win both the Tour de France and the Olympics using their products. Their ball bearings are also used in radiation machines for cancer treatments.
“We’ve supplied ball bearings for radiation machines used in cancer treatment, which are now running without breakdowns. It’s a great success for us to have made a difference for the customer – and for the unfortunate people who need to undergo such treatments,” Jacob explains.
CeramicSpeed was stuck with an old system from several years ago that was nearing the end of its useful life. This can lead to many challenges, including lack of functionality, performance issues, legal compliance, etc.
Previously, CeramicSpeed faced many challenges, including inefficient invoicing and complicated tendering.
CeramicSpeed has grown significantly in recent years, which has placed great demands on their IT solutions, as their previous system could not keep up with the company's development.
CeramicSpeed has found a partner that understands them as a customer and delivers a future-proof solution that can handle a growing pipeline.
CeramicSpeed now has a digital thread running from the time they make offers to customers, to the purchasing department, to their production and finally to the goods being dispatched from the warehouse.
The right mix of available specialists - regardless of whether it is about reporting or new legislation such as EU time registration.
The collaboration with 9altitudes has been both insightful and essential from the very beginning.
“It’s important for us to have a partner who knows our history and stays with us on the journey we’re on. They have the right mix of specialists – whether we’re looking at Business Intelligence or tackling the new EU time registration regulations,” explains Jacob.
He continues: “9altitudes’ understanding of our journey and their willingness to have employees on-site has given us a sense of security and accelerated the learning process.”
Frederik Eilschou Holm, Head of ERP at CeramicSpeed, adds: “By having a single point of contact, we’ve avoided working in different directions. We avoid situations where the left hand doesn’t know what the right hand is doing, as all tasks are coordinated through one internal ERP resource dedicated to the project, combined with a single unified provider.”
Jacob has a piece of advice for other companies:
“I wish we had started this process a couple of years earlier. We fell behind and had a lot of catching up to do. The longer you wait, the more complex it becomes to shift from Excel sheets and outdated systems to a new platform.”
Frederik also emphasizes the importance of having a dedicated ERP resource:
“A dedicated ERP resource ensures that both employees and the company can keep up with growth, making the implementation more efficient and reducing the need for changes along the way. A lack of resources can lead to extra work for both the company and the consultancy.”
Another key learning Jacob shares:
“It would have been beneficial to start with a smaller group of employees who could evolve into superusers throughout the implementation.”
Both Frederik and Jacob stress that having an internal ERP resource helps ensure daily operations aren't negatively affected, as change often places extra demands on departments—especially since the systems continue to evolve with new functionalities being introduced regularly.
CeramicSpeed’s journey with 9altitudes has been an exciting transformation, making them more efficient and ready for the future—a future they are tackling one step at a time, together.
